smelly breth

Chronic bad breath is something that haunts us all at sometime in our lives. I get a sinus condition so I have to be careful my breath doesn’t smell either from medication to control it or from the built up of toxins in my nasal and sinus passages.

That’s me.  But you may not know you have smelly breath. And you can get bad breath from lots of different things including;

  • side effects of medication
  • getting over a cold or flu
  • a high protein diet
  • a high lactose diet
  • sinus condition
  • diabetes or high sugar levels
  • other medical condition
  • garlic or other rich foods
  • excessive alcohol
  • cigarette or cigar smoking

If you have this constant taste in your mouth then you’ll find that it’s affecting every part of your life including your job, love life, family life and social life.  Some one may have been brave enough to tell you but like most people you pay attention for a minute and then dismiss it until someone says something again. That could be weeks or months in between reminders.

Pay attention! The odor can be so strong that people cut their conversations short, always seem in a hurry to leave and edge away closer to the door as if uncomfortable to be around you. Be honest, does this happen to you?

Your breath can ruin friendships let alone romance so it’s necessary to investigate, find out if you have this nasty condition and do something about it so you can feel comfortable again.

But maybe your not sure if you have halitosis. Go through the following points and see whether your breath is a problem for you. Try being as honest as possible with yourself.

Constant Rancid Taste

If you constantly taste something not quite right in your mouth you probably have chronic bad breath.

You’re tasting decay from tiny, old food particles left in your mouth. Unless you brush your teeth, clean your tongue and floss regularly that taste will remain there and get worse with each passing day.

Care for a Mint?

Are people offering you a stick of gum or a mint whenever they talk to you? Friendly, aren’t they? Chances are they can’t talk to you without disguising the smell of your badbreath even if it’s for ten minutes.

Most people are too polite to bring up a personal subject like your breath, particularly if they don’t know you well so they bribe you with a mint or gum with the hope they’ll get through the conversation.

If this happens to you – often, then you have a serious breath problem and you need to do something about it.

Step Away, Step Away

When you stand close to people do they step away as soon as you start talking? Do they cut discussions short or have them outside or near an open door?

Think about it. If this happens regularly, people may be stepping away from you to avoid your breath which means you have chronic bad breath.

Go to the Mirror and Look at your Tongue

The condition of your tongue is a sign of your overall health. Your tongue looks totally different when you have the flu and when your well. The first often has a thick coating – white or yellow- on it, while when you’re well your tongue is clean and pink, healthy looking.

Coatings on your tongue, whether white or yellow, indicates the presence of bacteria in your mouth which continues to grow until you are well again and changes your breath from fresh to stinky.

If you don’t know about tongue scraping then brushing or scraping this coating off your tongue every day can certainly restore your breath. Allowing it to build up can create smelly breath. You can buy tongue scraper, but it’s not necessary because the job can easily be done with your toothbrush.

After reading this, if you’ve decided you have a breath problem then take some of these simple steps to address it, find a good treatment to help you get rid of your bad breath and get your life back.

People will no longer avoid you or hand you mints before they’ll talk to you and it will be nice to have your breath under control.
