Please Serious Body Builders Or Weight Lifters Only?

what about breathing during weight lifting.what we normally do is breath in on a negative rep and breat out o a positive rep.but some say that we should breat in during pulling movements and breath out during pushing movements what they mean is during pushing exercises like bench press when we are pushing the weight far from us we should breath out and during pulling movements like upright rows we should breath in when we are pulling the weight close to our body.and i kind of agree with this technique because when when we are pulling the weight closer to our body that is the right time to breath in only on pullinng movements.

honestly… i never thought about breathing when i lift weights. it came naturally to me but what my strength coach (and numerous other professionals) taught me is that during a pushing motion (bench press, for example), exhale when you go up and inhale when you go down. During a pulling motion (pull-ups for example), you exhale on the pulling up motion and inhale on the way down.

To put it simply: always exhale on exertion.

if you don’t breathe properly, you might pop a blood vessel, pull a muscle or even black out due to a lack of oxygen (and cause further injuries when the weight crashes on you). i’ve seen a black out happened twice in real life when a person was trying to max out a weight.

however, you should not worry about breathing -all that much- UNLESS you are attempting to max out a weight. since you are working your body to its utter capacity, maxing out puts major major major stress on your nervous system and requires extremely deep concentration as opposed to lifting something between 8-12+ times… the process of maxing out a 675 lb squat takes much more work, time, concentration and preparation than repping 12-15 for a 405 lb squat. it is unlikely that you will faint or pop a blood vessel attempting to rep out a weight.
