How long can Strep Throat last?

I was diagnosed with Strep throat today on top of the flu I’ve had for the last three days. I started taking the antibiotics today, but I’m having a lot of trouble eating. I haven’t had a full meal in about 58 hours and am very hungry. I’ve been able to drink tea and eat Popsicles but I need more. I’ve also had a fever of over 101.0 for the last three days as well. I feel tired, clammy, and my neck is very stiff on the left side. I’ve been getting horrid head aches when ever I stand up as well. Today one hurt so bad I felt my vision black out. I hurts just to breath so you can imagine why I’m having trouble eating. Just wonder how long the Strep will last after starting meds.
Update…. I want to thank everyone for their answers. I’m feeling much better and finally at a real meal tonight for dinner and broke my fever. Off to work to more too. THANKS!!!

the pain should start to subside in 1-2 days after u start antibiotics ( oral antibiotics are usually given 3-4days to know if it is effective, it is changed to a higher class if still no effect at this time).
ur body is expected to naturally defeat the viarl flu and u should be completely ok in 1wk, otherwise ur doctor will investigate for complications or other cause of the prolonged illness.

dont know if u have mouthwash with lidocaine in ur country, we have this orofar-L here locally. ur throat will be a little numb w/ this, u will be able to eat.

one of my tonsils is extremely swollen. i have no fever, always fatigue, waking up in the middle of sleep?

i had strep throat last month, finished the medication and then i was fine. and just recently, when i was sleeping i kept waking up in the middle of the night and my heart would race like crazy and i’m thinking that it’s because i’m having a hard time breathing. the next morning i looked in the mirror to check what was up and my right tonsil is swollen compared to my left. and there was one white patch on my left tonsil, and like mucus at the back of my throat, and my breath stinks sooo bad and my mouth is always dry. i have no fever, chills, nothing. just that i’m always tired. what do you think i have? is it serious? what should i do?. i don’t want to go to the doctor cuz i have no medical insurance or money.

i’m 18 years old and i live with my aunt and uncle, and i’m too scared to ask them to take care of it.

know what ? i think your body is just recovering from the sickness , your immune system is weak right now from the strep so you suseptable to other illnesses that other wise would not effect you , i would suggest that you tell your aunt and uncle cus they love you and try some self catering, wash your hands wash your sheets and gargle with a tablespoon of table salt in 8oz of hotside of warm water every night before bed and have a big tall glass of orange juice every morning for at least a week

and drink a couple cups of water before the salt water gargle recovering bodies need lots of liquids

the salt water will help with the tonsils swolleness and help eliminate those normally harmless germs while your imune system recoops and the orange juice will help boost your immune system i would recamend staying away from sodas and drink white tea if not green tea will do white tea is beeter tho i doubt you,ll need surgery good luck i hope these old remedies help you
