My DEP Navy PT Test, how to breath while running and push up fatigue?!?
I have my PT test in a couple hours and my 1.5 mile is terrible… like a 13 minute at the moment. And I get tired after doing 25 push ups and just want to stop.
Obviously I’m not going to stop but I’m all nervous because I try to focus on my breath too much and I don’t quite understand what to do
Especially push ups.. I try to do them a little quicker than usual and I hear to breath in on down.. and out on up.. but I go fast.. so I feel like this would be hyperventilating. Would it be?
Also while running I get the worst dry mouth ever.. everyone I’ve talked to says 2 different things.. one side says breath through your mouth because you get more oxygen.. and you dont get that through the nose..
and others say through your nose out your mouth. Either way I get screwed.. I either get dry mouth BAD.. or I get sinus pressure hardcore.
What should I do? Any tips?!
For pushups I suggest just breathing normally. The trick is to use gravity to your advantage, do them as fast as possible. Push yourself up, let gravity drop you down. And just breathe like you normally would. Doing this I can usually hit around 50-55 in my first minute. After that I do short sets of as many as I can. Usually can max out in my 2 mins.
As for breathing, it all depends. If it’s cold breathe through your nose as it’ll warm the air a bit before it hits your lungs. This’ll help with the burning sensation a lot of people feel when running in the cold.
My suggestion is breathe in and out through your mouth as you’ll exchange more oxygen. Just try to keep your breathing even no matter how you’re running. Just breath deeper if you’re sprinting. What works best for me is to focus on my feet hitting the ground instead of my breathing. If you focus on something else your breathing will regulate itself naturally.
I usually do about a 6:40-7 minute mile doing that.
Very bad case of nervousness of reading infront of people?
How can i stop my nervousness? I had it for about 4 years and it at came and went now i want to get rid of it for good. When ever i am asked to read in front of the class i get very nervous, my heart starts beating really fast, I start sweating and I run short of breath every second word i read, its like I cant even help it.
I remember at one point a while ago i had my nervousness over with, but after 2 weeks passed it all came back and i began to be nervous again!
Worst of all, the even thought of it makes me uneasy, its like its constantly consuming me, I’m always thinking of when will the next time be when i read in front of people. Please help, how can i overcome this?
OK, this is a problem that can be fixed. Practice reading alot when you’re alone. The more you feel confident about your reading, the less you’ll be worried when you read in public. You have to treat your problem gradually. First, try reading in front of one person only, someone that you feel comfortable with (a parent, a close friend, a sibling).. Then increase the number of people gradually. You can do this. You should talk to your teacher about this. Tell him/her about your problem, and ask them to suggest other helpful solutions.
I think the problem is that when you’re reading, you’re focusing more on what the others are listening to rather than what you are saying. Try to get really into what you’re reading and pretend that you will be asked to explain what you read in detail after you’re done. That way you can focus on what you are reading. Good Luck
