Why does your breath smell only when you wake up?

So look, have you ever thought about this? Why do people get bad breath when sleeping- arent you just breathing? Than how come we dont get bad breath when were up and breathing? Why is it only when we sleep and are breathing?
Just so you guys know, not EVERYBODY sleeps with their mouths closed. Ever heard of slobbering? yeahhh comes from people who sleep with their mouths open.

ok…so look…you have thousands of bacteria in your mouth, the anerobic bacteria on your tongue are killed by brushing(more by mouth wash)…which you do in the morning and before bed….when you sleep you have your mouth closed, there for no constant flow of oxygen thease bacteria reproduce, and produce toxins… ,toxins cause smell …smell causes retarded question

ok fine then the reduced breathing rate causes a higher build up of the anerobic bacteria..
and at some point you will close ur mouth for a long enough period of time to allow the bacteria to mulitiply..
you dont wake up in a puddle of drool do you?…well you might…

Why do we wake up with bad breath?

I, for one, brush my teeth several times a day, but always wake up with a foul taste in my mouth. Why?

Basically saliva production is slowed during sleep. Saliva is acidic and helps slow down the production of bacteria. When you’re asleep and saliva production is greatly decreased, which means bacteria can be produced much faster than when you’re awake.
