Is bad breath a sign of diabetes?
I am frequently urinating, hungry, thirsty and tired. But Im not obese, Im a fit 32 years old guy… and my friend told me i have bad breath–which may be caused by diabetes..could I really have that sickness? Im just so afraid to know coz my mom died of having diabetic complications…is having bad breath really a sign of diabetes?
If it’s diabetes related your breath will either smell fruity or like acetone, which is the main ingredient in nail polish remover. I remember smelling acetone on my daughter before she was diagnosed, though I didn’t realize the smell was coming from her. It was kind of a plasticy / chemical smell. I thought it might have been one of her toys that made her smell like that, so searched for it so I could get rid of it. But of course, I never found the toy, because it was coming from her.
An article I was reading about bad breath?
I was reading an article that really freaked me out. It’s about how bad breath is a sign of a serious health problem. I’m so scared because I think I have bad breath at times. I mean it’s not like when I open my mouth people go “omg what died in here”. But to me I think I have a little cause of bad breath – especially after I’ve just woken up. I brush my teeth, chew gum/eat mints to help. My dentist didn’t even comment on my bad breath so it’s probably not as bad as I think it is. He didn’t say anything was wrong with my mouth/teeth other than needing the fillings and stuff. Does this article affect me? Should I worry about anything they mention? What would the kind of bad breath they’re talking about be/smell like?

I remember when I had a gum infection, I would at times get a strange metallic taste in my mouth that was most noticeable after waking up. It was quite different to the bad breath I use to get from eating lots of garlic and onion.
