Bad Breath – Dry throat?
When I wake in the morning, my throat is very dry and sore and there’s a thick mucus covering my upper throat. When I am able to remove the mucus, I can see that it is yellow in color. I have had this problem for almost half a year now.
i’ve tried mouthwashes but that does not work. Any suggestions?
Sometimes there’s a salty taste in my mouth, possibly from the phlegm.
First of all if your sputum is yellow you probably have a respiratory infection. It could possibly be upper respiratory if it has been that long that you are suffering. Your mouth is dry because you breathe through your mouth when you sleep. There are different types of habit breaking appliances,eg oral screen. First you have to be able to breathe freely through your nose. As a mouth breather you are prone to upper respiratory infections due to your air not being filtered through your nose. You could also have a compromised airway which inversely causes mouthbreathing, eg enlarged tonsils or adenoids. Bad breath is also caused by mouth breathing.
I would advise a consult with a sleep centre or a sleep apnoea therapist.
You would get much better sleep after resolving the issue and feel refreshed when you wake up.
Good Luck

What’s wrong with me? coughing up yellowish green mucus, shortness of breath….?
I’ve had this for a couple weeks and it only seems to be getting worse.
Uncontrollable coughing when laying down.
Coughing up yellowish green mucus
Dry heavy feeling in throat that makes a slight noise in my throat when I take a breath. Feels thick with mucus
Shortness of breath, starting to feel like my airway is getting smaller
Light headedness
Mild weak achy feeling in stomach seems to be coming on
Slight headache seems to be emerging
No runny nose, and no sore throat, but it feels very itchy.
lethargic feeling, weak feeling
My son was just treated with bacterial pneumonia.
Don’t know if this relates, but what could be wrong with me?
99.2 temp
no chills yet
will it pass on its own, or do I need antibiotics?
It sounds like bronchitis or pneumonia. It could have started of being bronchitis then progressed to pneumonia if you’ve left it untreated. The best thing to do is go to your doctor and possibly get a chest x-ray. If you have bronchitis or pneumonia your doctor will most likely prescribe you antibiotics and an over the counter drug like Mucinex. I would definitely recommend going to the doctor and getting checked out.
