I have a receeding gumline. I am not sure what has caused this and what can be done to correct it!?

I used to frequently brush my teeth, once an hour. This was a few yearago and was because I was nervous that I had bad breath. I never noticed any recession at that time. Just recently I have notice that my gums are recedding. I was using a waterpik and have stopped because I believe this is what sted it. I stopped using it, but my gumline is still receeding excessively.

Is there anything I can do at home to stop this get my gumline togrow back in? Do I need to see a specialist for this? What would my options be for treatment? I am waiting on my husband to get enough hours at work for insurance.

BTW, I brush 2 to 3 times daily and floss/use mouthwash once to twie daily.
I don’t smoke or eat anything relatively unhealthy to have caused this (candy and such.)

my aunt had that problem too. you need to see a dentist when you can… i don’t think it’s a huge deal as long as you don’t wait like years to get it corrected. the way they fixed hers (and its a pretty painful process…just to let you know, not to scare you) they put you under and graft gum (skin) from the roof of your mouth and stitch it in place along your gums… then they put this white clay-like stuff over it and pack ya with gauze and send ya home… then you go back and they check it and take the clay like stuff off and then ur all good.
hope this helps

i also wanted to let you know that gumlines do NOT grow back and if they do im pretty sure it’s very rare.

Stray Cat to the Vet?

I am planning to take the stray kiity i found which is completely covered with flees. I am also planning on getting her spayed, complete shots, check-up, and flea treatment. I wanted to get her blood and urine test also because she smells really bad and her breath is a killer. So do you guys know how much would this all cost me?
I have decided to drop the kitten in a shelter as i cannot keep it at home, so please also let me know if a shelter does any of those things i mentioned so i don’t have to.
I am going to take it to the VET first, no matter what!

I am just concerned if the shelter provides shots and spaying.

every shelter is different. some take care of these things, some don’t. almost all shelters are run by donations only, so anything you can do so that they don’t have to cover the cost leaves them with more money to take care of other animals. my shelter costs about $12,000/month to stay open, and it’s run entirely on donations. every bit that someone else is able to do instead is greatly appreciated, even if it’s just donating money with the cat to offset some of what the shelter has to absorb.

you can generally expect to pay $200-$300 to do all this at your vet. like i said, anything you’re able to do is a bonus to the shelter, although given that there are so many animals needing their help, i’d suggest trying to find a home on your own for the kitty first. even no-kill shelters won’t generally keep a sick cat, and things like a simple cold can be a death sentence to an animal in a shelter.

it’s too bad you can’t keep her – you sound like a very loving pet person and the world needs more like you.
