Cats red gums + bad breath?
Hi, I have a cat he’s about 9 months old, neutered male. We got him from a cat rescue. He had a hernia when he was a kitten.
Ever since he was a kitten he’s had red gums and very bad breath,We figured it would go away as he got older but it has not. His baby teeth in the front seemed to have trouble coming out.
His gums where his molars are, are very red but the ones in his front are not. His molars look like they might be rotting, they’re kinda yellow and look like swiss cheese kind of. His breath is really bad. He’s very healthy, has a shiny coat and clear eyes. We feed him wet and dry food. He doesn’t seem to be bothered by it at all. And has a very healthy appetite.
Any suggestions on what we could do? Or whether you think we should go to a vet??
Thank you!
You need to bring him to the vet. Those teeth should have come out at least two months ago.
It sounds as if they are now decaying and that his gums are inflamed if not infected.
Though he may not appear to be in pain he probably is. And if he isn’t, he will be.
Don’t let this go. Call the vet tomorrow and describe what you have posted here.
