Why do I get really bad gas after shortness of breath?
I do not have a burning feeling in my chest but when I get shortness of breath (like it gets a little harder to breath and I start feeling very slow and lacking I get bad gas, then after that my heart is easier to breath but a little later same happens, this has been happening for over a week now and my heart feels to be pumping harder then normal, what should I do? My mother is a nurse and says she has the same thing but whenever I bring it up she is annoyed and won’t take me to hospital. Is this a serious issue that is worth faking some several signs over to get checked on, or trust my mom (I mind u that swine flu is spreading and she never dealt with it before) (a nurse in early 1990) should I trust her or pretend I’m dieing for a little while to get a professional opinon?
Thanks bama, now I see why my mom was being that way. I guess I was just freaking out a little. Your the babe of today in my calender. ^_^ TY!
It sounds like your having problems with gas building up in your UPPER digestive tract, and then passing out of your system. This can definately cause shortness of breath and tightness/discomfort in your chest, and can easily be mistaken for something more serious. The fact that your symptoms resolve after the gas has passed makes me think that this is not really a serious problem, just a scary feeling. Try taking something like Gas-X when it’s happening, or even taking Beano before you eat to prevent it. While your mother was very insensitive about it, I think she’s right. I hope this helps!
Can someone please help me with BAD gas pains???
I have had really, really, bad[so bad I didn't go to work today] gas pains for the past 12 hours. It woke me up last nite while I was sleeping. I had diarrhea[sp? sorry TMI] last nite and thought they’d be gone. But when I woke up this morning, I still have them. Basically I have sharp pains from my chest all the way to lower stomach. As far as I know this is gas, right? It kind of feels like cramps all over from my chest to stomach. I feel as though I can’t really take a deep breath.
I have tried everything to get rid of it. I can’t go to the bathroom. They say don’t take a laxative if you have pain..so I don’t know. Please, does anyone know any remedies/what to take or do???? Thank you
It might be that your little episode of diarrhea hasn’t run its course yet- no fun!
Take some Peptol Bismol to soothe your stomach… and then go for a walk! (WHAT?! NO! I’M IN PAIN!) I know, it sucks to get out for a walk when your stomach is so messed up, but it’s better than any pill you can take for gas. Walking will help your body to get everything in your digestive system moving again. Nurses often encourage post-op patients to get up and get moving soon after their operations if the patient is experiencing severe gas pain from the anesthesia.
I suppose you might not want to go on a terribly long walk. It’s probably best to stay in the general vicinity of the toilet.
