leg and abdomen swelling due to low blood sugar?
I have swelling in my legs mainly and in my stomach that comes and goes sporadically during the day, to the point where i look like ive gained about 10-15 pounds. I started noticing it a few months ago and it has gotten progressively worse. In the morning it is not bad at all but the minute i start walking around i start to swell. Im also noticing decreased muscle mass and my skin is less elastic. Im only 19 so this is obviously concerning. I’m tired almost all the time and am also having shortness of breath and what seems like heart palpitations. I went to the doctor and they ran some tests and it came back saying that i had low blood sugar. I was wondering if low blood sugar could cause all these things? I know swelling is a symptom of diabetes in some cases but i also know that low blood sugar doesnt always mean diabetes. I’m really confused and kind of worried. Would appreciate any input
Hello,
Please don’t be too concerned about your symptoms. But the symptoms that you describe need to be addressed by a doctor. If you don’t feel you doctor is concerned enough, either stress your case to him or see another doctor. It is too early to say what is going on, if anything.
Water retention can happen from a number of causes, I would definitely keep a close watch on your weight, weigh yourself a couple of times a day and write down the number.
Low blood sugar usually means you just need to eat something.
Good Luck,
