Why do people with braces have bad breath and how do you prevent it?

I have always noticed people with traditional braces have SUPER bad breath! I am getting braces put on in two weeks and don’t want this to happen to me! Why do people with braces seem to naturally have bad breath and how do you ‘cure’ it?

They don’t “naturally” have bad breath. The smell is coming from food which has not been properly cleaned from their braces after they ate. If you brush your teeth after every meal and make sure that there are no food particles left in your mouth, your breath won’t smell.
