i need help on my home work now please!?
mr.krabs creat a secret ingredient for breath mint that he thinks will cure the bad breath people ger from eating crabby patties at the krusty krab. he asked 100 customers with a history of bad breath to try his new breath ment. he had fifty customers group A eat a breath mint after they finished the sandwich how ever it was just a regular breath mintand did not have the secret ingredient. both groups were told that they were getting breath mints that would cure their bad breath. 2 hours after eating the crabby pstties 30 customers in group A and 10 customers in group B reported having better breath than they normaly had after eating crabby patties.
wich people are in the control group?
what is the independent variable?
what is the dependent variuable?
what should mr.krabs’ conclusion be?
why do you think 10 people in group B reported fresher breath?
I’m not completely sure I read the question right. I assumed Group A was the control group because they received regular breath mints but were told they were the secret ingredient. Group B also received breath mints, so these must have had the secret ingredient he created. (i.e. both groups got breath mints, they couldn’t have both had only regular mints).
If I’m correct the DEPENDENT variable is the PERCEPTION the customers had of whether their breath improved or not. (Note: they didn’t use a machine to measure)
INDEPENDENT variable: The secret ingredient in the mints.
CONCLUSION: Mr Krab’s secret ingredient for breath mints were only 20% successful in giving customers the impression they had better breath which was much less than those who took regular breathmints and therefore Mr. Krab’s ingredient was not successful in curing bad breath from eating Crabby Patties.
Group B: Two reasons why they may have reported better breath. 1. The secret ingredient actually did improve breath and these ten people had a more sensitive sense of smell than the rest. OR They were operating under a scientific fallacy. They thought they were getting a special ingredient which biased their opinion and made them report better breath when the ingredient was really ineffective.
