Bad Breath Causes In Kids 3 Bad Breath Causes In Kids

My daughter has bad breath at night with a little snoring. No obstructive sleep apnea.?

This sweet little angel of mine has some really bad breath after sleeping. Obviously not gingivitis, yet. What causes bad breath in kids during sleep? Daytime breath is fine.
Betty Boop, you appear to know exactly what I’m talking about!

Wicked whatever, are you serious? Why would I be so close to my daughter’s face when she is asleep? I’m sorry that you’ve lived a life that has left you with such issues.

I know what your talking about. Yes everyone has morning breathe but hers is worse Right? I had this same problem all my life ny mom did nothing just the brush your teeth sometimes 4 to 5 times a day to see if this helped. Guess what it didnt it was like I never brushed my teeth. I then had a girl same problem. Took her to the doctor when she was sick he looked at her tonsils and sent us to a specialist. when we seen him she wasnt sick anymore but her tonsils were huge. he asked if she snores, has bad breathe, wets the bed sometimes. If she is really groggy in the mornings. I said yes. He then looked in my mouth and out came two sets of tonsils. Now we dont have the nasty morning breathe (depending what we eat) no more snoring no more bed wetting for her and no more being groggy in the morning.

Look in her mouth and see how be her tonsils are this could be the problem.

How does one tell if his breath is obnoxious?

If you are surrounded with a sensitive, respectful and emotional family, you might not always get great advises from them.

Even if the smell of your breath is causing nausea to your wife, she might not tell you so in order to avoid hurting your feelings. Your kids will also refrain from telling you this simply because they are taught if they don’t have anything nice to say — say nothing at all.

But of course you want to know if your breath is obnoxious — and as far as I have noticed, I really can’t tell if my own breath is bad, unless I am informed of this by someone.

My question is, though: How can I determine whether my breath is obnoxious or not? Is there a test I can take? Are there stuff we can purchase at the store to test our breath?

Sure, I don’t have a bad tooth, and my teeth are brushed 2 to 3 times daily. However, some people with healthy teeth do have bad breath nevertheless.

Many thanks.
Dad

Obnoxious or Bad Breath (halitosis) is commonly feared (real or not) exactly because of this problem in the inability to self-determine.

Because the possible sources are so diverse, a solution is only possible if you know the cause. This might require professional help and not just good oral hygiene, especially if the source is not in the mouth.

If the smell of your breath is causing nausea to anyone, you would know this if you just pay close attention to their reaction as you approach. The worse the smell, the stronger the reaction and the more difficult it is to hide (even from strangers).

If you want to know without involving your family, ask any child of age 3 to 5. If you stink, they will tell you or at least react in such a way as to leave no doubt.

A close member of your family, a good friend or even your pastor (minister or priest) should be able to tell you honestly if you clearly make it known that you do not want to offend and do need the truth. Reality check: How badly can your feelings get hurt if you suspect that you have bad breath strongly enough to ask?

There are commercial products to help those all alone in the world determine if they have halitosis, but money is better spent finding the cause and curing the problem (when anyone with a nose can tell you you have it).
