Can AMOXICILLIN 500mg “cause” bad breath?

I had a broken tooth, by the time i got to the dentist, it had an infection in it…not bad, but it was there. He prescribed me AMOXICILLIN 500mg…ever since i started taking it…i have horrible breath. I knew you’re gonna says its the infection causing it, but there was NO breath issues prior to taking the AMOX. After a week, it stopped. 3 weeks later, i had a sinus infection, it was bothersome but not painful, (no bad breath) they gave me AMOX again..”AFTER” that….my breath issues started. Am i crazy, or is the AMOX causing this.

It’s not likely, halitosis (bad breath) is caused by bacteria and amoxicillin is an antibiotic, designed to kill bacteria. It’s possible that you grew used to one smell and now that that’s changing, you’re noticing it. Consult your dentist (you can call so you dont get charged)

What illness do I have?

This started off with a very sudden sore throat that affected my speaking. I have some phlegm that gathers in my throat, and is cleared by a harsh series of coughs that cause pain in my chest and neck area, and my throat feels rough and laid open to the nerves. I have constant neck and chest pressure, with pain in my throat. Breathing is difficult, and I sometimes have to take a very deep breath that is followed by more coughing. My voice is still rough, scratchy, and low. Swallowing causes the pain in my throat to get worse, as does talking and breathing. I have no sinus blockage, nausea, fever, but I do have a headache that I took ibuprofen for, so it is getting better.
I was exposed to strep throat on Friday, by two people in the early stages of it. However, I know that strep usually isn’t accompanied by a cough. What could it be?
Is it possible I have laryngitis? My voice is very weak and rough.

It sounds more like a bronchial infection than strep throat, some symptoms of a bronchial infection, are sore throat, cough ( with mucus) chest congestion wheezing and body aches, go along to your doctor and have this checked, a course of antibiotics is probably all you need to get back on track.
