I keep waking up and can’t breathe?
It feels like my throat is closed. then I have a bitter taste in my mouth. I am wondering if it was what I eat the night before or is something else wrong. I had at steak and baked beans. Don’t remember what I ate the other times. I spit it out to make sure it wasnt blood or anything and it wasn’t. It really scares me because I can’t catch my breath. I had to go drink water and coughed real bad. I also smoke cigarettes. and i am 36 years old. Does anyone have a clue as to what may be happening???
it’s the smoking. silly goose
Bitter taste in mouth what is it?
Everything i eat tastes bitter the past few days, just alittle. I did alittle research and some people have it coming from their stomach but it goes with bad breath, i do not have that. Also pregnant women seem to have it, i am not a woman. Anyone have any idea what this is? Only thing that was uncommon is that i had to stay awake for 20+ hours a few days ago, about when it started but i catched up on that more than enough.
Have you considered “Acid Reflux” – anything can bring it on –stress, eating too much of say ‘greasy’ stuff? gastritis. It is easily cured.
The 20 hrs could definitely have messed up with your system. Especially if you didn’t eat/drink healthy. If you had lots of coffee/iced tea – caffeine?
As I don’t know where you are from (USA?), I recommend you check with your local pharmacist to see what is the equivalent of prevacid (over the counter) or similar. Take for a few days, but not more than 7.
Keep a journal – annotating eating/sleeping habits and how you feel
In bed, sleep for a few days with head/neck and chest area elevated more than usual – it will help with the reflux, if that is what you are going thru.
Eat healthy. Try to avoid greasy stuff for a while, like pizza (sorry)
Fruit/yoghurt/chicken (roasted not fried)/high fiber/cut back on too much butter…..just be nice to your body for a bit.
If all of the above fails and you still feel that taste in your mouth, I recommend you see a Gastro. Take your journal with you.
Diabetes: it could but more than likely (I am not a physician) is not. Do you have excess thirst? Do you have what is called “metalic” breath? you can look up on WEBMD and other websites similar for the symptoms and see if they apply. Diabetes is a silent disease and does creep up on us. If you have a friend with diabetes, ask them to test your blood before you eat, before bed, when you wake up (most of us diabetics have more than 1 monitor so I am sure they would lend to you).
good luck
