My 6 month year old kitten has bad breath, dry mouth and keeps scratching his neck and ears, Whats wrong?

I noticed that my kittens breath was selling bad and was itching his ears. I was thinking it might be related to him getting his adult teeth or could be a sinus or respiratory infection. I took him to the vet and they said he might have an upset digestive system that is causing the bad breath. They prescribed me fiortiflora (multi-vitamin pro-biotic) once a day for a month and a quarter of a Pepsid AC a day for one week. They also said to switch completely to dry food. I was concerned that the cat might have an ear infection so I brought him back and insisted the vet check his ears. They checked his ears and with a smug smile said they were fine. Eight days later his breath is 25% better but he still occasionally shakes his head and scratches the back of his ears. I intend on finishing the pro-biotics because I have done alot of research and it is a great product and I still plan on keeping him on dry food. Should I go get a second opinion immediately or wait a little longer?

I’d say to wait a few days longer and then get a second opinion if it doesn’t get better. My cat sometimes shakes her ears too, there’s an ear solution you can get from a pet store or at the vet, it’s actually called VET Ear Solution, what you want to do is put a drop or 2 in each ear, massage the ear, then take a cotton ball and wipe the excess, and allow your cat to shake his ears. When cats first get to a new home they can develop a respiratory infection, (i think thats what the name of it was, my vet told me this back in july when i got my new cat) until they get used to their new home. Regardless, your vet doesn’t seem all that smart, they should have given you a reason as to why your cat’s ears are doing that, not just ignore it and put a smug smile on.

How do you get rid of bad breath?

I have noticed lately the last couple of months no matter how much I brush eventually I get this nasty taste in my mouth, or I can just tell my breath is kicking, it seems almost as if I have infection in my mouth. I have gotten sinus infections and strep several times the last few months. HELP

actually whe nyou get sinus iinfections it causes a drip to the back of your throat and that drip will cause the bad breath and it will take time to rid. also if you were on any nose sprays or antibiotics that can cause it too. watch what you eat because bad breath comes from your stomach
