Why does wine leave your breath tasting more like alcohol compared to beer?
I drink off and on. I notice beer does not make your breath tasting too much like alcohol afterwards. When drinking wine your breath tastes like extreme alcohol after 20 minutes.
Why does wine make your breath taste more like alcohol compared to beer? Beer does not leave a bad aftertaste nor make my breath taste like alcohol after 20 minutes. Does wine have something extra that leaves your breath tasting more alcoholic?
NOTE: I know both beer and wine contain alcohol but want to know why wine leaves a stronger aftertaste.
This is because wine contains 2-3 times as much alcohol as beer. Since it is more concentrated it fills you mouth with more of an alcohol-ish flavor. Just like drinking bourbon tastes more like alcohol than bourbon and coke. They both have the same amount of alcohol (just like a glass of wine and a 12 oz beer) but the shot has a higher concentration of alcohol.

Your best bet is to drink less. And be sure to brush your tongue when you brush your teeth and use mouth wash. The above article said there is a point when you drink too much to hide it. That it seeps from your pores. I would think that drinking more water and eating aromatic food would help flush it out.
And, I’m convinced that this is why Altoids were invented. Who would munch on those if not necessary. And yep. It can be smelled while you’re sleeping, and you probably can’t smell it yourself. Kind of like people who smoke not being able to smell themselves.
